Biography
It is not so much my conscious directive, but more essentially a peripheral result that the glow of haunting lyrics and melodies often casts a lovers shadow over the souls of my audience. The bittersweet tragedies, that we no doubt embrace to avoid susceptibility to emotions that can often take the better of us, become the focal point of my songs, as I insist we have all experienced that incomprehensible and unexplainable pull of the heart or soul to places we will not see in dreams. I do not write to escape, instead I speak of experiences that have had profound effects on me, that have left me shaken to the core and unable to find peace in a fragment of my past. I write of possession, the sudden fullness of an inability to choose and the promise of being hurt for a reason. While I have not found these reasons myself, such an answer does not exist at any destination that is outside of ourselves, but the journey draws poetic lines behind us, and in looking back we find messages insinuating where we are headed. These messages are the inspiration and the medium of my expression. The aesthetic darkness that permeates my music must not be taken essentially at face value, as I have promised myself that an inherent beauty exists within the music. But just as I have searched for such beauty, and in searching have learned so much, I would not want anyone to perceive me as quintessentially melancholy and only within a linear realm of understanding, as I am an advocate and forager of beauty as well and I would hope my audience would join me in such a pursuit.
